Help the Flood Victims of Fort McMurray

Still recovering from wildfire devastation, Fort Mac needs our support now

À propos de cette Occasion de don

The Alberta city of Fort McMurray is experiencing “once in a century” flooding that has forced more than 15,000 people to flee their homes and businesses. Most of us are already familiar with the wildfires that devastated the city almost exactly four years ago, as well as the economic crisis it is experiencing from shrinking resource revenue. Add to that the lockdown of a global pandemic, and the floods come as particularly cruel news. As all levels of government struggle to support the stricken city, crews have been piling sandbags to protect the local hospital, and downtown residents are facing a mandatory evacuation order.

Fort McMurray needs our help. The toll on people and their families will be significant, and lives will need to be rebuilt along with the besieged homes. When you donate to this Giving Opportunity, you’ll be helping to support key organizations working with evacuees, many of whom are being temporarily housed in local work camps. The stricken region will face a long road to recovery, made even more difficult in these already challenging times. Specifically, your contributions will help:
